Technology for conducting the qualification tests of non-destructive testing means. Ultrasonic testing means classification

Abstract

The article describes the technology for conducting the qualification tests of piping butt ring welded joints non-destructive testing means that allow reducing the tests cost and shorten their terms. The task of qualification tests is disclosed and their stages are determined. References to regulatory documentation that establish the requirements for qualification tests program and data processing are made. Requirements for the number of defects in the welded joints different zones are established, and defects classification is provided. The most effective way of defects manufacturing is defined. Radiographic tomography method application to measure the actual size of defects is described, and its advantage over the metallographic examination method is shown on the basis of cost and performance characteristics comparison. It is proved that the use of tomographic method allows testing the measurements results and defects indications parameters adjustment, and make the research more accurate. Parameters measured during the test of non-destructive testing facilities are defined. Classification system for ultrasonic testing systems for functional features is proposed. Particular attention is given to the classification systems of ultrasonic testing on the hardware implementation of monitoring and classification by methodology for the ultrasound use. Materials are prepared on the basis of non-destructive testing facilities qualification tests results, conducted by NIITs STNK Spektr LLC in cooperation with Gazprom Public Company in 2014.
