Abstract

Depressive disorders occur in patients with cardiac pathology, aggravate the clinical course of cardiovascular diseases, and contribute to an increase in the incidence of cardiovascular complications and mortality. Depressive disorders are correlated with a more severe course of physical illness. The most common depressive disorders are detected in chronic heart failure, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction and after coronary artery bypass grafting. Depression can manifest itself in the form of symptoms of various somatic diseases, for example, diabetes mellitus, myocardial infarction or stroke, arterial hypertension, and can also coexist with a somatic illness. It was found that the prevalence of depressive conditions in patients with cardiovascular diseases ranges from 18 to 60%. The combination of depression and cardiac pathology significantly complicates the course of both diseases, creating a kind of vicious circle.
