Метафорическое моделирование образа полиции в дискурсе общественного мнения США (сфера-источник - зоонимы)

Аннотация

В статье автор рассматривает проблему восприятия гражданами США сотрудников правоохранительных органов. Изучение общественного мнения осуществляется посредством когнитивно-дискурсивного анализа метафоры как ментальной операции, способа познания, объяснения, структурирования и моделирования окружающего мира. Исследование метафорических словоупотреблений проводится в рамках дискурса общественного мнения на основе интернет-статей, блогов, форумов и комментариев к видеосюжетам. Наиболее яркую эмотивную окраску приобретают высказывания в адрес полиции, поскольку ее сотрудники оказываются на передовой в решении конфликтных и опасных ситуаций, требующих корректного поведения и юридической грамотности в регулировании правовых вопросов. Методом широкой выборки автор группирует 478 наиболее частотных и продуктивных метафор в рамках отдельной метафорические модели «ПОЛИЦИЯ - ЭТО МИР ЖИВОЙ ПРИРОДЫ», объединенных во фрейм «Мир животных». Внутри данного фрейма посредством ряда примеров представляется характеристика доминантных слотовых пар: «Хищники и фитофаги» и «Дикие и домашние животные». Сделан вывод о том, что в подавляющем большинстве метафорические словоупотребления, связанные с восприятием правоохранительных органов гражданами, носят негативную эмоциональную окраску. Автор связывает данное явление непосредственно с характером деятельности полиции: сотрудникам приходится осуществлять свою деятельность в опасных условиях (зачастую с риском для жизни) под пристальным вниманием общественности, и каждое неверное действие ведет к смене оценочного вектора и изменению облика всей полиции в целом.

Metaphorical Modeling of the Image of Police in the Public Opinion Discourse of the USA (Source-domain - Zoonyms)

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of the attitude of the USA citizens to law enforcement officers. The study of the public opinion is carried out through cognitive-discursive analysis of the metaphor as a mental operation, a way of cognition, explanation, structuring and modeling of the surrounding world. The study of metaphorical usage is conducted within the discourse of public opinion on the basis of Internet articles, blogs, forums and comments on video fragments. Statements about the police acquire the most vivid emotive coloring, since its employees are at the forefront of conflict resolution and dangerous situations that require correct behavior and legal literacy in regulating legal issues. Using a wide sampling method, the author groups 478 most frequent and productive metaphors within a separate metaphorical model “POLICE IS A WORLD OF LIVING NATURE”, united into the frame “Animal World”. A characteristic of the dominant slot pairs “Predators and Herbivores” and “Wild and Domestic Animals” is given on a number of examples within the given frame. It is concluded in the article that the vast majority of metaphorical usages depicting the attitude of the citizens towards the police have a negative emotional coloring. The author associates this phenomenon directly with the nature of the police activity: police officers carry their duties in stressful and dangerous situations (often risking their lives), while being closely watched by the public. And each mistake leads to a change of the assessment vector and a shift in the image of the police in general.
