В статье описывается краткая история зарождения казанской астрономии и ее развитие в XIX в. Специальное внимание уделено строительству здания обсерватории и оснащению астрономическими инструментами. Приведены примеры научных достижений. Более подробно освещена научная работа М.А. Ковальского.

Astronomy in Kazan in the 19th centurу

The article reveals brief history of the origin of Kazan astronomy and its development in the 19th century. Special attention is paid to the construction of the Observatory building and equipping it with astronomical instruments. Examples of scientific achievements are given. The scientific work of M.A. Kowalski is described in more detail.
