Abstract
The article presents a review of domestic and international literature on the issue of self-control of chronic diseases as part of a disease management program. The key features of chronic non-communicable diseases, namely type 2 diabetes, the concept of medical literacy of patients, as well as the role of the nurse in self-management are described. The experience of self-management of patients with diabetes in foreign countries was studied.
