Аннотация

Актуальность изучаемой проблемы обусловлена важностью всестороннего осмысления феномена джингоизма как одного из значимых проявлений политической истории и культуры Великобритании. Объект исследования - факты и обстоятельства включения темы «джинго» в рождественские представления британских театров сезона 1877-1878 гг. Целью является изучение характера и масштаба этого явления, а также оценка логики и потенциала воздействия на массовое сознание политически обусловленных сюжетов рождественской пантомимы. На основе сравнительного анализа материалов британских периодических изданий установлено наличие в рождественском репертуаре различных столичных и провинциальных театров номеров с интерпретациями «Песни Джинго» и аллюзиями на позицию Великобритании в Восточном кризисе 70-х гг. XIX в. Доказано, что принципиальный успех сценической новации был обусловлен смысловыми и психологическими особенностями восприятия жанра рождественской пантомимы, а также стереотипами национальной самоидентификации зрительской аудитории. Обосновано, что в контексте рождественской пантомимы «Песня Джинго» превращалась в пропагандистский текст с позитивной нагрузкой, адресованный зрителям всех возрастных категорий и социальной принадлежности. Выявленные факты активного вовлечения детей в круг исполнителей позволили констатировать наличие значительного потенциала театрального бизнеса в ориентированной на молодое поколение пропаганде ценностей британской картины мира. Сделан вывод о том, что рассмотренные эпизоды использования темы «джинго» в рождественских представлениях 1877-1878 гг. являлись примером успешной коммодификации театральной аудитории сообразно вызовам «нового империализма». Настоящая статья может послужить материалом для ряда дальнейших исследований в области изучения политической культуры Великобритании.

THE THEME "JINGO" IN THE PRACTICE OF CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCES OF BRI-TAN THEATERS OF THE SEASON 1877-1878

Abstract

He relevance of the problem under study is due to the importance of a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of jingoism as one of the significant manifestations of political history and culture of Great Britain. The object of the study is the facts and circumstances of the inclusion of the theme of "jingo" in the Christmas performances of British theaters of the season 1877-1878. The goal is to study the nature and scale of this phenomenon, as well as to assess the logic and potentials for influencing the mass consciousness of politically determined plots of the Christmas pantomime. Based on a comparative analysis of the materials of British periodicals, it is established that the Christmas repertoire of various capital and provincial theatres had numbers with interpretations of "Jingo Song" and allusions to the position of Great Britain in the Eastern Crisis of the 1870s. The analysis in the Christmas repertoire revealed the presence of various capital and provincial theaters numbers with interpretations of "Jingo song" and hints on a position of Britain's policies in the Eastern crisis of the 1870s. It has been proved that the fundamental success of stage innovation was due to the semantic and psychological features of the perception of the genre of the Christmas pantomime, as well as stereotypes of national self-identification of the audience. It is substantiated that the context of the Christmas pantomime "Jingo Song" turned into a propaganda text with a positive load, addressed to viewers of all age categories and social affiliations. The revealed facts of active involvement of children in the circle of performers allowed to note the significant potential of the theatrical business in the young generation-oriented promotion of the values of the British picture of the world. It is concluded that the episodes reviewed using the theme of "jingo" in Christmas performances of 1877-1878 were examples of the successful commodification of the theatrical audience in accordance with the challenges of "new imperialism". This article may serve as a material for a number of further studies in the field of studying the political culture of Great Britain.
